Cancelling, and what happens to your data
No notice games and no retention tricks. But get your data off first, because we do not keep a copy.
How to cancel
Mail us or cancel in the portal. It takes effect at the end of the running term: the month for a dedicated server, the year for colocation. A cancellation that arrives after a new term has started takes effect at the end of that term.
Get your data off
When the term ends, the machine is wiped and re-used. We hold no copy of your disk and never did, so there is nothing to ask for afterwards. Copy what you need, check that the copy opens somewhere else, and only then confirm.
What happens to the hardware
Storage is wiped before the machine goes to the next customer, and a disk that cannot be wiped is destroyed rather than re-used. Colocated hardware is yours: tell us how you want it collected or shipped, see sending us hardware or parts.
Your addresses
IP addresses from our range return to us and are reassigned. If your customers sit on those addresses, renumbering is the painful part — which is the whole reason we recommend bringing your own IP space.
Unpaid invoices
Non-payment ends it faster: suspension on the due date, termination thirty days after, and the data goes with it. See invoices, payment and cancellation.
Coming back
Plenty of people do, and we keep no grudge and no file. Mail us and we start a new quote like the first time.
