Identity checks (KYC)
We ask new customers to confirm who they are. It is not bureaucracy for its own sake — knowing our customers is what keeps the network clean, keeps our addresses off blocklists, and protects the honest majority.
When you sign up, we confirm your identity. Every responsible network does — because the alternative is becoming the provider of choice for people who do not want to be found, and that ends with your legitimate neighbours’ traffic being blocked for the company it keeps.
Why it protects you
A network that verifies its customers is a network whose addresses stay trusted — off blocklists, accepted by mail servers, not treated as a source of abuse. The checks that feel like friction at signup are exactly what keeps the IP you are given clean for you to use. See getting off a blocklist.
What we ask for
- Who you are — a real name and contact, a company and its registration where relevant
- Confirmation you are who you say — proportionate to the service
- A valid means of payment in your name
Proportionate, not intrusive
The level of check matches the situation — a long-standing customer adding a service is not re-vetted from scratch. We ask for what is needed to establish the account, not more. If a request seems disproportionate, ask us why — there is usually a specific reason.
How we hold the data
Identity information is kept securely, used for verification and our legal obligations, and not sold or shared except where the law requires — see GDPR: who is responsible for what and when authorities ask for data. You can ask what we hold.
If you resell, you verify too
Resellers onboard their own customers, which means the duty to know them passes to you — see white-label reselling and acceptable use for resellers. “I did not know who they were” is not an answer we or anyone upstream will accept, so make knowing them part of your own signup.
