Reinstalling your server
Reinstalls are free and unattended. You start one from the portal and the machine comes back with a clean operating system.
Before you start
A reinstall wipes the disks. Not the configuration, not the home directories — everything. Copy off what you need and check that the copy is actually readable somewhere else before you click.
Write down the network settings you want afterwards: the IP address, the gateway and any additional addresses. The installer hands you a working configuration for the main address, but extra addresses you added yourself do not survive.
Running it
Pick the operating system in the portal and start the reinstall. The machine reboots into the installer, installs unattended, and comes back with fresh credentials. No ticket, no waiting for office hours, no charge — whichever operating system you pick and however often you do it.
Afterwards
- Change the password you were given and install your key.
- Run the system update before you expose anything.
- Re-add extra IP addresses if you had any.
- Reverse DNS stays as it was: that lives on our side, not on the machine.
- Using the free DirectAdmin licence? Install the panel after the update, not before.
Something else than our images?
You are not limited to the list. Open the remote KVM and install from your own media if you prefer a distribution or a hypervisor we do not offer. It is your machine; we do not police what runs on it.
